What Are Peptides?

Potential Risks
Potential risks depend on the compound and can include injection-site reactions, infection, dosing errors, allergic or immune reactions, drug interactions, unwanted hormonal or metabolic effects, and product contamination or potency problems. Some risks may be unknown when human studies are limited.
Online products create additional concerns because identity, purity, storage, and sterility may be uncertain. Never use a product labeled “research use only,” share medication, or change the dose without guidance from a licensed prescriber.
Understanding Metabolic Peptide Medicines
Medicines such as semaglutide and tirzepatide have FDA-approved uses and well-defined prescribing information, but they still require individualized screening and monitoring. Gastrointestinal effects are common, and important contraindications, warnings, interactions, and dose-escalation instructions must be reviewed. Compounded versions are not the same as FDA-approved products.
