HCG
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin
Safety Considerations
HCG is generally well tolerated when used appropriately. Possible side effects include
fluid retention
headache
mood fluctuations
acne
and breast tenderness due to increased estrogen levels.
Because HCG stimulates endogenous hormone production, patients with hormone-sensitive conditions should use it under medical supervision with appropriate monitoring of hormone levels.
Molecule / Formula
HCG is a glycosylated heterodimeric protein hormone, so it does not have a single fixed “small-molecule” formula like peptides do (glycosylation patterns vary). Clinically it’s commonly referenced by molecular mass: ~36.7 kDa total (α ~14.5 kDa, β ~22.2 kDa).

What Is the HCG?
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) is a naturally occurring peptide hormone that mimics luteinizing hormone (LH) in the body. It stimulates the testes to produce testosterone and supports normal reproductive function. Clinically, HCG is often used in hormone optimization protocols to maintain testicular function, preserve fertility potential, and support endogenous hormone production.
How It Works
HCG binds to LH receptors in the Leydig cells of the testes, stimulating the production of testosterone and supporting sperm development. By activating the hypothalamic pituitary–gonadal axis downstream, HCG helps maintain physiological signaling pathways responsible for hormone balance and reproductive function.
Benefits
HCG helps maintain natural testosterone production while supporting spermatogenesis andreproductive health.
It is commonly used in conjunction with testosterone therapy to prevent testicular atrophy and preserve fertility.
Many patients also report improvements in libido, energy levels, and overall hormonal balance
when HCG is incorporated into a hormone optimization program.
